VGC - sl nick in trim edge, sl crses - a local boy, Ted Drake, in his 3 years at Southampton 1931-34 in which he played 71 games and scored 47 goals.  That scoring rate continued after his move to Arsenal (124 goals in 167 games) and his 5 England caps (6 goals). Post war - as manager ended up at Chelsea in 1952 and won their first league title 3 years later.
