Alex Raisbeck was signed by the Reds from Hibernian in 1898 (after confusion with Stoke for whom he played in 4 "test matches" at the end of the 1897/8 season) and unusually for a centre half was very creative, building attacks from defence. He played over 300 games for Liverpool before joining Partick Thistle in 1909 and won 8 Scottish caps in his time at Anfield.
